i think this is ideal to replace fast food places, you will not see a completely automated michelin 5 star restaurant. i don’t think the point is to cook everything with robots, but to automate the boring shit.

China already use a lot of bots, maybe more and more advanced than any other countries, they have even a robot army, police bots and a lot of bots in restaurants and bars, even in particular homes, Easy to buy with prices between $10.000-15.000

What I like is to be pleasantly surprised, which requires leaving a degree of freedom to the chef.
Making sure you can do things reliably and repeatedly is a prerequisite for experimenting and adding variation.
Not thrilled about this development tbh. It only highlights how replaceable workers are. That’s not a positive story.
My main concern with stuff like this is that our economic and social development is lagging behind technical development. If we had something resembling world-wide socialism, I’d cheer for our robotic replacements all day long.
That’s only true under capitalism where people are forced to work for the sake of working. Under socialism, automation should be celebrated as it frees up people from drudgery.
Automation doesn’t automatically translate to more stable worker conditions under any system, but yes, socialism is better equiped to deal with automation than capitalism. That’s where I would agree.
I remember a novel by a German author, Walter Schätzel (from 1957). It was about a professor who fell into a crevasse and was thawed centuries later by an alien civilization that now populated the earth, because humanity had died out except for a few individuals. This alien civilization only had to worry about research, philosophy or art, because all products and services were produced and offered automatically and were freely available at any time, regardless of whether they were food, clothing, everyday items, medical treatment, living space or vehicles. No money and very rare crimes are treaten as mental illness because of this. Everybody has all what he need or want. Humorous and entertaining reading about the experiences of this professor in this civilization.
