Are there any good old-school first person shooter games still active? Halo Infinite is fun but Microsoft’s crap is frustrating. I miss Wolfenstein Enemy Territory from back in the day. Halo Custom Edition was awesome, too.

There’s quite a few old-school shooters that are open-source, for example:
https://xonotic.org/ is a Quake-like arena shooter.
https://unvanquished.net/ is an asymmetric arena shooter (humans vs. aliens) with RTS elements.
Xonotic is an utterly blissful experience, just playing it, but the skillcap is so high everyone deletes me! How do I get into it?!

Holy shit is Unvanquished a remake of the old Tremulous game? I used to love it. It has now been kept updated on github
Wikipedia calls it a “spiritual successor” to Tremulous. 😅
