Well, I was using virtual box as ive never used anything else, so maybe thats why. Or the mouse firmware updater was just bad.

How does nothing like this exist but open source?? I guess because everyone uses their stupid phone now, but i love having separate devices.

I wonder who at m$ is in charge of the “make windows fuck up all other OSs present” department. Probably makes 800k/yr.

How can you do this without bricking the controller? Have you ever tried updating its firmware this way? In my experience thats a big nono.

You dont want to use windows in a vm to talk to externally connected devices or update them…ask me how I know

Bricked my favorite mouse doing this firmware upgrade for it on linux with a win 10 vm. I was sad but after a few days amazingly, the mfg sent me a custom program to reset the mouse, and it was windows only, had to use a friends pc to do it.

And I did it using usb pass through. I would not trust it again.

My daily job is win+e alt+d ctrl+v lol. People look at me weird when I rapid fire them and get to a server location before they even right click copied the filepath.

And im not in IT or anything, always wanted to be though! Most People just dont have computer curiosity like us.

While I agree we dont need or want to make linux like windows, im VERY fast on mint cinnamon because all the key combos and the gui make sense to me and it works.

I tried cachyos with xfce and I was horribly slow and clunky, had to use the mouse for everything vs mint I already knew all the key commands.

Fish should be default in mint. Makes linux so much better.
