Sounds like you should buy another mac.
You want build quality and performance and code, game and use llms. That’s a mac use case. If the games you want run on it.

Never used that program before because I have usbs.
You could also use wsl

Do you think c/opensource might be a better place to post all these little applications? Perhaps with a url instead of an embedded link?

It’s because over the last decade the understanding and tools to take advantage of a bunch of small seemingly insignificant exploits in order to gain privileged access have become widespread.
It’s the flip side of not trusting things written in rust to be effectively more secure just because it prevents someone from sticking their thumb between their fore and middle fingers and declaring they “got your stack”.

Someone else said you should try the most recent version. They’re right. You just copy the file into some place like ~/.local/bin/, set it executable with chmod +x and add its location to your $PATH. You will need to apt remove yt-dlp from your system to get rid of the old apt version. From that point forward using the -U flag when you invoke yt-dlp will first check for and install an update if needed before doing the thing you asked for.
Someone else said Reddit is closing off their api. This is so.
You’re getting 429 so try changing your vpn endpoint and see if that helps you out.

It hasnt been small since 98.
Everything already works, Linux support is ootb for almost every new piece of equipment that comes out nowadays. Literally what is missing?
Your pretext seems flawed too since the kernel llm decision is in keeping with the way it’s been for years and there wasn’t really an alternative to llm use with the number of patches flying in from llm sources.
Just generally what do you think is happening in the world regarding Linux? Are you referring to c/linux on .ml?

Why not fork xmmp or qmmp or any of the other Winamp clones?
I’m not complaining, I genuinely want to know what differentiates this software.

Just enable nvidias apt repository and get whatever drivers you need directly from the source.
The main reason open source projects are pushing to formally adopt a policy around (allowing) llm use is that they’re already using it.
If there was a unified front between the contributors and the community against llm use, how much code would have to be reverted and rewritten? Most likely a bunch. How long would that take? Most likely a while.
Now perhaps they handle it quickly or truly didn’t have any llm work in their code base, how will they handle the flood of legitimate bug reports from llm testing?
If you’ve ever worked in a trade where your role is split up in an assembly line you know that the person behind you getting access to a new tool that makes them faster necessitates you get a new tool that lets you keep up.
Nvidia has a debain repository you put in your apt and get drivers from. I am using it now with a 5060.
It’s exactly like windows for the nvidia repo, you get your drivers from the hardware manufacturer.

You probably shouldn’t be running qubes, either because your hardware isn’t up to it or because you aren’t up to it.
Nothing wrong with not being up to it. That’s a weird operating system that’s basically a research project. It’s just about like saying you daily drive 9front.

You should look closer at fed/police capabilities. Only graphene and ios consistently defeat graykey or cellebrite.
Even small departments have these capabilities or can get them on loan from bigger ones.
If that is truly something you’re worried about you should weigh your exposure to them against how much you want to not help Google (or apple).
Google or Apple won’t notice if you do or don’t buy a phone that’s their brand. You will notice if the police are able to look through your device.
People who put their principles above their own safety can be easily put in situations where they’re in danger.

If you need security I would recommend that you overcome your predispositions and either get an affordable phone that is supported by graphene (a pixel) or an iphone.
If you do not need security then no worries, but it would be a shame to end up in a bad situation because you felt it was a bridge too far to use a phone from a particular company.
Sounds like it was more trouble than it was worth!
Just see if you can tolerate Debian and lxqt before you start doing weird stuff.
What kind of weird mutant laptop is this? You may have more and cheaper upgrade options available than you think…
E: I found a couple of laptops that ship with that processor and gpu and they all seem to have two ram slots and ship one stick of ram in the 8gb configuration. A ram upgrade in that case would be $30 or so. Even if you needed to swap two sticks it would only be $50 to go to 16gb and help you a lot.
The ones I saw all had an nvme slot and a sata port with an ssd installed in one of em. I have had great luck speeding up slow ssds with spinrite running its level 3. I’ll spare you the explanation but it really works.

Unfortunately there’s no way to actually know what’s going on with a cable without testing it and as of eight or so years ago you can’t trust cables to conform to the spec.
You should either buy a cable tester, not use high powered supplies or throw away what you have and buy cables you know are what they say they are.
Especially for power delivery, buy a tester. It’s cheaper than a house fire.
I use excel. It launches from whatever the file manager in lxqt is pretty quickly.

I been selling used dell latitude 3520s. They’re less durable than the old style thinkpad but about on par with the new style ones. They’re just as repairable. Manuals and parts available online.

You’re running a jellyfin server and client on the same machine?
Hey, use namei with some flags to find out if the directory lets the socket be created by that user and if there’s a directory in the tree that keeps that user from traversing it.
