It is incredibly cringe to hear US Epstein/Empire defenders think that China and their millions of highly skilled engineers can’t re-discover/re-invent all semi-conductor tech and catch up to the US controlled sphere.

I think it’ll get harder and harder to find ‘pure’ distros. For a while you can maybe rely on something similar to Gnu linux-libre kernel that removes proprietary blobs, or BSD, or Gnu Hurd kernels etc, but linux-libre is already a pain if you need certain hw drivers, and eventually an anti-ai kernel will become crippled even worse, and it will become too hard to keep track of what kernels/parts of kernels is AI assisted code or not.

In the future, more and more new features will be from ai assisted code, and pretty soon, the anti-ai kernel will lose out to ai-assisted kernels in features, speed and soon stability (bug-finding etc).

The same goes for the rest of the distros that tries to avoid ai-assisted tools and code, and you/others will imho get completely swamped by this transformation. In fact, you will most certainly need an agent to keep constant track of this development.

I’m okay with AI, but I kind of feel for those trying to avoid it. Its hard enough just to avoid proprietary crap, and to me, avoiding ai-assists, is an even bigger mountain to climb. I do wish you all best of luck on that journey.

Ps. There ARE fully open models trained on fully libre with open libre data-sets, and for you - ethical data oriented - you could/should? probably accept that ‘non-pure’ situation, and use such an open llm to either maintain an ethical distro, or keep unethical ai-assist as low as you can get away with, for as long as you can.

I think your solution is a ‘declarative operating system’, where you just have a config file and the system builds it-self from that. You can decide if the system is locked to certain versions if you like. I know of Guix and NixOs, but maybe others exists. Alternatively an external scripting solution.

You still need to backup valuable local user data oc.

Not 100% on what ‘stack-based’ means here, but if ‘stacking’ = ‘tiering’, you could use a normal filesystem like bcachefs that have tiered storage ?

You can declare different tier devices for speed, availability or what you prefer, and have different compression, managed cache, auto-move hot data from cold storage, cold data to cold storage, and what not…

However, I’ve never actually tried it, so I’m likely exaggerating the possibilities. I think ZFS have tiering too, but maybe a filesystem specialist can chime in with some advice.

Alternatively, if it doesn’t bother you, it could be a great task for a sota ai, to help/create/setup a simple fuse fs for your needs.

I’m somewhat annoyed that I myself used WP to slam opponents 10 y ago. I knew contested topics were wonky, but I didn’t know that every single article that touches on anything political/ideological, or stray from the Empires approved narratives were heavily compromised.

Currently, for any political topics, I try to find some of the alternative - and better - wiki’s from communists, socialists, and p2p etc. When I have to use WP, I try to notice when an article points in the direction of what the Epstein c*nts would likely want me to think, and adjust appropriately… Effing annoying also, and not foolproof…

However, on a longer time-frame, the West have edited all history for hundreds of years, and every single Westerner have their Effing garbage lies embedded in their heads as ‘facts’ already, and now we have all the AI that are trained on hundreds of years of Epstein-class misinformation/propaganda and direct lies to manipulate and control the geo-political sphere (attack their enemies). That means that the damn Epsteins - Rich *sswipes in the entire West - have turned their supporters(1) into an echo-chamber, a cult, where the misinformed masses will fight to their own death (or others death), defending the Epsteins fake narratives, ideology and power-positions. We all see and hear their supporters defending the current Capitalist system, blaming its victims, and being angry at Russia, Iran, Palestine, China, Venezuela or wtf nation is currently being attacked by the Epstein class.

Just for the record, Linux can do with less swap-space than the memory you have, also for hibernation. The system doesn’t write every byte to swap, and it uses compression. With 32gb I would choose a default swapsize of ~10gb max, but test it first as it depends on the specific content of your ram, and usage patterns oc. However, its an instant time-saver during boot.
