14·28 days agoThey’ve already got boots on the ground.
The severity of the bugs that they’re having to roll back for does not scream “stable OS” to me.
To be fair to Framework, the 12 is a 2-in-1 with a touchscreen, which is not something that’s currently offered on any of Apple’s laptops and at least partially accounts for the extra cost. Of course, economies of scale play a part, as well.
Then why do they keep having to roll back what seems like every update they release due to some major bug?

Linux@lemmy.ml•Why sometimes Linux is hard to switch toEnglish
3·2 months agoYeah, that’s what you’ll get away from by switching to something like Debian. The number of packages that gets updated every week can usually be counted on two hands, if that. That means less chance for something to change drastically under the hood that might bring the whole system down.

Technology@beehaw.org•Metaverse inventor Neal Stephenson says VR goggles are deadEnglish
2·2 months agoI really enjoyed Beat Saber for a while. It seemed like the only game that really made VR worth it as a hard requirement, though. Pavlov was fun for a while, too, but my knees definitely suffered.

I knew something smelled fishy about Bazzite and friends. It went from being completely unheard of to every Youtuber’s favorite distro damn near overnight and I was left scratching my head as to why. Like, I get it’s nice to have the NVidia drivers baked into the base image, but the fact that they have to do that at all seems like an argument in favor of a more traditional distro for gaming to me.
