I think it really depends on the work the program does and how effectively it uses caching, concurrency, etc. Something like data serialisation would probably be a lot slower in Python compared to something like handling simple UI event triggers which might only have that 0.001 difference

Gaming@beehaw.org•The current state of ps2 emulation is genuinely amazing.
3·7 days agoI did oversimplify it a bit and it is indeed per-game. The rpcs3 devs did recreate all of the basics like user accounts and trophies but playing DS online required connecting to a custom server that was a separate project

14·7 days agoPS3 emulation is crazy good as well and even PS4 emulation is getting there! It’s so crazy to me that the rpcs3 devs reverse engineered and rebuilt the PSN network to the point of allowing me to play through Demon’s Souls as if it was still online

Linux@lemmy.ml•Ubuntu 26.04 Allows "sudo apt install rocm" But It's Months Out-Of-Date
6·13 days agoIt was about 4 months out of date at code freeze from my understanding and 6 months out of date on release which is honestly better than I’d expect normally for packages in official repos
Software needs users to fund development and most users find the software via word of mouth and there’s no way I’m telling a friend that they should try POOP for their next art project

8·13 days agoI’d love to hear what your solution would be? They freeze everything two months out to allow for thorough testing and unless your answer to the problem is switching to a rolling release cycle (which is exactly the opposite of what its supposed to be), then I don’t think there’s anything to be done
This sort of distro is and always has prioritised stability over having the latest of everything and that’s a good thing. I use CachyOS on my desktop but it’s the absolute last thing I’d put on a server, let alone a production one.
Just use Docker if you need something newer

Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•Mike Masnick | Claude Code Just Rickrolled Me
11·22 days agoPeople are downvoting but that’s still pretty funny even if you hate AI. Like, come on, its really funny that rickrolling has been widespread for so many years that the training data made the LLM spit out that exact YouTube link
I’ve seen coding used since like the late aughts and that’s just because I started getting into programming around that time

I’m so happy Ryan found Canada “too woke” and sold GameStop’s Canadian branch. Only good thing he’s done because now it’s rebranded back to the proper EB Games name and owned by Canadians
