What do you mean? You don’t just jam nctomnarstoiearste into the terminal? Am I the only one who does that?

Arch for 13 Years. No distro hopping. The AUR and Wiki are the greatest resources any Linux distro has and I’m not giving them up for anything else. There were periods where I dual booted with Windows for gaming but that’s been dead and gone for 5 years. At this point the only times it breaks is because of user error which there is not much of any more.

Ncmpcpp. I’ve been using it for so long that using other cli music players is almost a no go. Learning a new muscle memory wouldn’t be worth it. Album art would be nice but I’m listening to music and staring at the album art for hours. The metadata editor is really nice. It’s old reliable.

You think that’s bad. You should try Ghostty and it’s +foo options.

Mpd+ncmpcpp for almost 15 years here. Album art would be nice but I don’t look at my music player long enough to care that much. Its always thrown on a far away workspace.
Yes I tried Kew and Rmpc. Hell I cloned Rmpc and rewrote it from scratch to try and learn Rust. They’re both neat projects but not enough for me to switch. Especially Kew. That one requires some reprogramming of the brain. I’m good right now.

Arch. Been 13 years on it. Aur and Wiki are the best resources any Linux distro have.
About 0.00001% of my worth as a human being. Wait till you venture out of the DE world and into the WM world. i3, BSPWM, Openbox. Go even farther and try Wayland with Sway, Hyprland, Niri, MangoWC. Make your own bars. Configure your own keybindings. Cuss a lot. Pull your hair out. Feel the pain. When you come out the other side you’ll wonder why you ever bothered with so much bloat to begin with. And all of a sudden you might know some CSS and json.

Like Hyprland AND want to try Niri at the same time? BOOM MangoWC. Been using it for months now. Don’t ever see myself going back to Hyprland. Completely bypassed the Niri hype too. It has tiling and scrolling modes. You can toggle between them. Just as smooth as Hyprland without all the bloat. Plus whenever someone says something about some window manger or DE you can now respond, ‘no thank you, I’ll have the Mango.’

Arch.
I tried it! I liked it. Been on my system for a while now. I probably wont switch from ncmpcpp, but it’s a great alternative. I think being so used to ncmpcpp is keeping me from switching to anything different. Like I wish I could search just by hitting / then typing in what I. Then I realize learning a whole new system for a music player isn’t something of a high priority after using one thing for 15 years. I love the track screen. That’s something I wish ncmpcpp had.
