Genuinely only used this to redeem games on GOG whenever I had a free Prime subscription.
Otherwise this is as expected though. A subscription service (unless you could use it without prime?) only selling licenses to game use, not the actual games.
If Steam shut down it would likely work the same way.
Maybe I’m a dying breed, but I don’t feel like own something if I can’t put my hands on it physically. I view Steam as leasing and not ownership. I’ve bought a fair amount of stuff on it over the years, but I don’t feel like I actually own it.
RIP.

If steam ever shut down people would riot lol
Yes. If steam shuts down, I’ll probably just stop purchasing games entirely.

It would be a catastrophic event but I doubt we could do much, aside from Valve maybe unlocking steamworks’ DRM (which is easy to crack anyway)
Is Prime Gaming going to be affected?
My read is that this is shutting down all free access to Luna game streaming. I don’t read anything that implies this will affect game codes.
If anything this might make prime gaming better again, as it’ll start giving codes for actual stores again instead of the “play free on luna” bs.
Prime gaming has been giving away codes for actual stores for the last few years at least
